Gene and I worked on Episode 2 of our podcast yesterday. I really hope it can measure up to the sheer genius of most sequels (e.g., Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo).
We discussed education generally, purposely avoiding the each other’s sore points. For me, that’d be teachers union’s influence. For Gene, I’m fairly certain that’d be a combination of corporate influence and constrictive, unnecessary curriculum and work rules. But Gene can speak for himself, as those of you who know him can surely attest.
We intended Episode 2 to be a “30,000 foot view” of our thoughts on education. What makes a good education? What does the perfect school look like? What’s the most important thing to teach? Why do we provide public education the way we do? If you were starting from scratch, how would you change public education?
Hopefully, our answers will make each of you think about education in a different way. That is, once Gene gets the podcast done.
